Can we calculate it for reciprocating pumps also? if yes, how? Is there any thumb rule for this?

Shut off pressure is the pressure when the discharge to the pump is closed and there is no flow but the pump is trying to pump. This is determined by lab test and it not something that is typically calculated. If you have a pump performance curve you can read the shut off pressure from the left hand side of the pump curve.
