Fluid mechanics and centrifugal pumps?

Question: Fluid mechanics and centrifugal pumps?

(Posted by: Pumba007 on 2009-11-18 12:02:47)

Imagine a close system of tubes, where the water goes around inside the tubes. the flow is given and determined using a centrifugal pump. I know that the maximum Efficiency of the pump is 40 %. But why? How the turbulence in the system interfer with the loss of energy?

That is correct. The efficiency of a pump is based only on what happens between the suction flange and the outlet flange.

The efficiency of the pump has nothing to do with the flow in the tubes.
