Can glycol significantly reduce the efficiency of a water chiller unit?
A few years ago, glycol was introduced to the water chiller unit which provides cold water for the HVAC unit in the building where I work. Since then, the building has not been able to be cooled properly. The amount of glycol was reduced which I believe slightly improved the situation. The current amount prevents freezing at 15 degrees, the building is located in central Pennsylvania. Is it possible that glycol can make a significant effect? I may experiment and remove the glycol and put 100 percent water in. I will store the glycol mixture in 55 gallon drums. Of course the coils could be be cleaned in the air handlers, which would effect efficiency, but I really believe the problem started with the introduction of glycol. Any advice would be appreciated.

I have a chiller whose cooling capacity is 11.5 KW. What does it mean? Does it indicate that it consumes 11.5 kw of energy? If so, i run the chiller for 6 hours how much electricity would be consumed? Does it mean 11.5KW 6 69kw.h of electricity is consumed in 6 hours? Someone please help me understanding the terms.

Chiller or cooling tower ?
I work in air separation plant and I want to reduce temperature of our cooling water from 33 C to 25 C using a different technology because we use currently Plate Heat Exchanger PHE and I am not satisfied with its performance.Do you think that cooling tower can do the job? Is chiller a better option? Our plant is in hot country and ambient temperature can reach up to 50 C.Thanks
